Uncle Conrad

Created by debrajabraham 5 years ago

My earliest memories of my Uncle Conrad were waiting for him and Aunty Shush to arrive in Wales every December to stay at my Nan's, as part of their tour to Llantwit Major and Bargoed to deliver the Christmas presents to all the family. I would be so excited for days. Would they arrive in the Granada or his beloved Jensen? Conrad would always greet you with a tremendous hug and there was often a story to tell about the car, or his Honda Goldwing. Sometimes he'd already be outside tinkering under the bonnet. There was often a job that required his attention, such as fixing Nan's washing machine or Hoover.

As adults, the advice Conrad was able to offer on parts of Europe to visit and the time he spent planning trips to America were always talked of at great length and detail. Richard and I will always be extremely grateful to Conrad for filming our wedding and putting the memories of the day onto VHS. He'd often send through videos of holiday trips for Jake when he was little. One of his favourites was Busch Gardens, Florida and he wanted Jake to see all the animals there.

We were lucky enough to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with Conrad and Shirley at one of their recommended Eurocamp sites - Berny Riviere, where they were regulars. Conrad was very keen to show us Pierrefonds Castle where we spent a lovely afternoon that included Conrad whisking the children (then 6 years old) off to the shop and insisting that he bought them presents.

Thank you Conrad for all the happy memories. You will always be my wonderful, appreciative, caring and much loved Uncle Conrad.

Always in our hearts. Love Deb, Rich and Jake xxx
